I Love Typography (and Braveheart)

I’ve been a happy follower of the I Love Typography blog for several months now, and out of the 150+ blogs that I follow, it’s one of the few that I really enjoy reading. I found the site at the perfect time, I was just starting to evolve my style so to speak, and typography was something that I really wanted to learn more about. John filled a need, and if you have any interest in the subject of typography and design, then I highly recommend it.

Over time, I’ve made some small contributions to the site; aside from commenting, I’ve also posted a few wallpapers that you might like (or perhaps even love). You might recognize the one above, I used the same scrabble tiles from my post a few months back.

Braveheart

When John posted a review of FontBook, and subsequently a quote from Braveheart, he got me thinking…

If you’re still scratching your head in confusion, then this article might explain it better.

Upcoming

Coming up is an article on the typography of code (as in type for programmers.) Something that quite interests me as a sort of designer-slash-programmer mix.

Hey there! Thanks for visiting my blog. I hope you like what you see. If so, you can thank me by subscribing to my RSS feed.

All work and no play

Work has been keeping me extra busy this past week (that means late nights). So stay tuned. Things should be back to normal very shortly.

I twitter therefore I am

I guess it was only a matter of time.

PHPRunner

Have you ever wanted to quickly test out a PHP function or block of code, but been annoyed at how long it takes to open up your editor, write the code, save the file, and then view it in your browser? (I’m assuming you have a local server for testing these sorts of things)

Well, I know I have, and that’s why I wrote PHPRunner. A test console for PHP that shortens the process to just two steps!

  1. Open PHPRunner
  2. Write the code

It’s that easy. PHPRunner does all the saving and displaying automagically.

PHPRunner is what you could call an early alpha. And it’s far from complete, but it does work, and I’ve found it quite useful.

Requirements & Download

  • Windows XP or Vista
  • Local Web Server (with PHP)

Q & A

How did you make PHPRunner?
Python, wxPython, and py2exe.

Can I get the source code?
Maybe once I’ve cleaned it up a bit more I’ll release the code. But not right now.

Thanks

Special thanks to all the great developers of wxPython. Also thanks to my friend Brandon for his ideas and support.

Please let me know if you have any issues, problems, comments, etc.

Happy New Year

Happy new year to all my wonderful readers! I wish you all the very best for 2008.

I’ve had a couple resolutions on my mind these past few days, and one of them is daily blogging (perhaps with the exception of Sunday). I know, I know,  sounds a little over-ambitious. But I’m definitely not enjoying the whole once-a-month schedule, so things are going to change one way or the other.

So, what’s your new years resolution?
