If you’ve ever used a new Mac (perhaps you own one), then you’ve probably seen the many beautiful icons that the OS has in it’s repertoire. And likewise, the many amazing icons created for various 3rd party applications.
One of my favorites is the Time Machine icon. representing Apple’s newly released backup solution.
For this issue of Design Challenge, I’ve created from scratch a sort of remix of said icon. Feel free to download the PSD and play around with it yourself.

That’s a gorgeous icon; also like how you’ve presented the graphic within your post. I’m downloading now. Thanks.
Your site is very interesting, especially on fonts issues, but I dont’ get this one : you changed the color and… ?

Thanks a lot.

Thanks fredfred.
This isn’t meant to be anything original, just a fun recreation which I thought I would share.
Great work! In many ways, I like your rendition more than Apple’s, such as the shadow under the arrow. Very subtle, but makes a difference. Keep it up!
Adam
Thanks! I’m glad you like it.
Simply exotic.. keep it up buddy i like your work very …
Very beautiful! It almost glows. I like your new RSS icon done in this style, too. But what about a tutorial on how you did it??
Rasel
Thank you very much. I’ll keep it up for sure.
Lauren

sorry (ventor) hehehe
Cool icon ! I wonder how you did the spiral and the star wars “hyperspace” effect ? Is it a motion blur ?
Beautiful! Is it okay if we slice and dice it and use pieces in our own work?
Sacha
The Hyperspace effect is indeed a motion blur, applied to a starfield (not hard to make with Filter > Noise, and some adjustments) — I’m glad you like the icon.

Of course! A mention would be appreciated, but not required.
Great tutorial! thanks so much!
hey thanks a lot for sharing respect
Nice Post
Great icon. However the PSD file I downloaded (inside design_challenge2.zip) is a flat rendition of the icons. In other words the file does not have all the different layers that originally made up the work.

Oh, don’t worry, the source is there. See the image below.
