Broken Power

power_supply.png So my computer’s power supply broke.

And I don’t exactly know why. I just woke up one morning and tried to turn my computer on. You know, with the power switch. Well, that didn’t work. It didn’t work the second time either, or the fifth, or the tenth. And then it started to smell. No ‘Boom!’, ‘Crack!’, or anything of the sort. Just a smell, and a bad one. Like something burning. I guess that’s what happens.

Anyways, I was lucky. No other components were harmed during the breakdown. I’ve already bought and installed a brand new OCZ StealthXStream, which is running all fine and dandy. It’s also black, so it goes well with the rest of my rig.

For those who care, my previous power supply was an Antec TruePower 430W. Suspected COD is high heat (it’s summer!) and overloading (all fans, overclocked CPU). I’m hoping the OCZ will last longer than this one did — which was about a year.

Alright, now back to your regularly scheduled programming.
